Will this void warranty????

#1 Post by Stevesoura » Mon Mar 17, 2008 8:10 pm

Hello, I recently won a x41 tablet off ebay which I think I won for a descent price. The only thing that seems to be wrong is the crack lcd and scratched/cracked top case. It seems to have been dropped. I think I can salvage the case with good cleaning and I don't mind the minor scratches and crack. I saw on ebay some guy was selling a x41 tablet LCD for $225 which I think I have no choice to buy. My question is that while there is allot of warranty left on this laptop. Will changing out the LCD myself void the warranty? What do you guys recommend?

What type of warranty do you have to begin with?

If you have depot warranty, the act of changing the LCD yourself should void the warranty on the screen itself, but not on the rest of the unit.

Good luck.

That's a depot warranty alright. Change the LCD and hope for the best. There is a chance that if you do it neatly enough it may not even be noticed during an unrelated repair...

Good luck.

You have on-site warranty, meaning that they'll come to your house and fix the machine for you.
