What is the optimal screen resolution? Also, sevral of the keys on my key board are not responding well... does anyone have a tip on what to do?

Assuming that this unit has the original LCD, the optimal resolution is 1400x1050. All other (lower) resolutions will cause the image to look fuzzy.
Regarding the keys, remove those keys to see if there's crap underneath. If you find none, then you probably need to buy a new keyboard.
