X31 screen issue

I got X31 system. While I still maintain my X40 is better it seems like a good machine.

But it does have one issue. The screen has sort of a shadow at the bottom middle. It's like on spot about 1.5in tall is darker than the rest of the screen. Is there anything that can be done about this? It's probably a backlight issue and I don't want to take the backlight out but maybe there is an easier solution? Other than that the screen is nice and bright.

This is the same place my X31 LCD was darkening at. It was also darkening at the ends near the start menu and the clock. And, from the center to the ends, it showed a light darkening in the shape of a Mcdonald's "M". The lamp was definitely going bad but luckily my X31 was still under warranty and Lenovo changed the LCD. I would say you will need a new lamp one of these days as it's surely on it's way out. However, if it doesn't bother you too much, it may still last a long time before it actually goes.

Well, it's not horrible so one can live with it easily. I was planning to sell it off anyway, just wanted to check it out. I think my X40 is much better so I'll keep it instead.
