Question Concerning Configuration...
Is there anyway to configure the T42 60gb 7200 with a 14.1" SXGA display?
My ideal laptop would be:
PM 735 Chipset
60GB 7200 rpm
14.1" SXGA
64mb Radeon 9600 or 128mb FireGL T2
CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner
Intel 802.11 b/g or 802.11 a/b/g (MPCI)
Bluetooth/Modem
3-Year Warrenty
Is this at all possible?

The real problem, it seems is a mixture between the 60gb, 14.1, and the video card. While i would like to have the 64mb Radeon or Fire GL, i actually have a desktop that i will be using as my gaming/junk computer so having the higher end video card is not totally necessary.
However, can i upgrade the laptop later with a 9600 (or even 128mb 9700) if IBM will not let me option that way as of now? or are their space limitation in such a configuration?

You can get awfully close with the T42p (2373-GVU with CDRW - 2373-GRU with DVD-RW) - but it is 745 not 735. The 1.8GHz CPU's are only an extra $50 or so.
A T41P gives you everything you need but with less cache.
Also - I expect that 14" - Radeon 9600 models will show up on the CTO page at some point.

You cannot upgrade graphics cards (or their memory.) These GPUs are soldered to the motherboard.Biggie2 wrote:However, can i upgrade the laptop later with a 9600 (or even 128mb 9700) if IBM will not let me option that way as of now? or are their space limitation in such a configuration?
Very few companies allow you to upgrade laptop GPUs (Dell does that on the largest/top-line model and I think Alien does too (so some whitebox laptop maker must have that available as Alien doesn't make their own mobos); but in both cases, these are very large and very heavy computers which allow the GPU to be on a daughterboard.)
I've yet to hear of any company making sub-6lbs or even 7lbs notebooks with replaceable GPUs.
