TFT 14.1" - WXGA+ 1440x900
Hello,
Is this TFT 14.1" - WXGA+ 1440x900 standard or wide screen ?
Is it heavy or it's just about quality displaying ?
thanks

It is a widescreen. As far as "heavy"...as I recall it is approximately 5+lbs. Sorry, I have not seen one in person. . . yet. . . but I have heard very good things about it (although some prefer the slightly larger native font of the WXGA (no "+")). The WXGA+ is of course the higher resolution widescreen.

1440 x 900 is the widescreen, yes.
I recently had my company order one for me, thinking it to be a reasonable travel machine. I've since changed my mind. Given the weight and size (especially the size), I rather think I should have just gone whole-hog for the 15.4-inch model with even more pixels. I'll probably end up buying a second laptop for travel, making this T61 a desktop replacement. And for that use, I might as well have gone with the larger screen.
OTOH, I'm not so sure I'd want anything larger than the 14-inch model. It's plenty large enough.

AFAIK, all thinkpads come with Anti-glare (matte) screens.NIZAR wrote:Thanks !!!
Since I prefer matt screen, how could I identify this type screen on T61 laptops ?
I think you should also take a look at tabook for detailed information on current thinkpads.

I've tried installing the driver for my T61 video display straight from the Lenovo support & download matrix and from there installing it from the DRIVERS/.... folder(numerous times). Intel installer runs as if it's installing the necessary software then when I reboot -- everything is the same ... I can't see better than 1280 x 800.... what am I forgetting to do? (and yes, I have the + version and supposed to be seeing 1440 x 900 and I double checked my receipt and invoice they confirm that I should be seeing this....)

Thought this deserved an update to the thread via a second post... In device manager, my 965 chipset has a yellow exclamation next to it, yet when I attempt to install or reinstall the driver, the installer pops up saying that my system already has the latest driver 7.14.10.1329, which is the newer version and asks me if I am sure that I want to downgrade to the installer's version 6.14.10. 4926, I've tried both the versions listed on that matrix for the T61 there's two separate ones(XP). Also, Device manager's "Device Status" window states that something is wrong with the driver or that it is corrupt... yet I've tried many times with the same driver...
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

The T61 14.1" with the 1440 x 900 res is much lighter that the 15" T61. The frame on the top and left is rather thick and the deck where the power button and sound keys are located is rather loose and bulges upwards. It moves when you push down on it.
Keyboard has good spacing coming from a 14" T43 and the speakers appear to be better. Keyboard has a good feel.
Seems quiet so far and the 160 Gig drive is nice. It is missing the memory stick reader though.
I must admit, I'm not fond of the screen shape. Perhap's I'm just to used to a non wide screen laptop, but it increases the amount of scrolling you have to do.
