T23 pulsing fan

#1 Post by JBUK » Mon Mar 24, 2008 11:33 am

I bought a couple of spares/repair T23s last week. One had the pulsing fan and no POST problem.

I stripped out the mobo expecting to find loose inductors. They were fine. I tested the screen on another T23 and it was fine, so not too bad a deal then as I have a useable screen.

However I came back to it later as something was nagging me about it. What I discovered was that the CPU had been installed the wrong way round. A new hole had been created on the socket to allow this. I refitted the CPU correctly and it booted up quite normally.

So we now have something else to look for, CPU related problems, as a cause of a non booting pulsing T23.
Where to begin......
390e x1 390X 390X,700mhz
1 x T20 + about 8 untested for spares
4 X T23 + 6 breaking for parts
1 X T23 with Samsung 840 SSD and XP Great combination !

AND NOW....3 X T60s and 3 x T61s

I can't imagine why someone would spend the time to create the extra hole for the CPU, when it won't work with it in like that.

Very interesting...

Gee, wouldn't it have been easier just to clip off the superfluous lead on the CPU???
