Want to upgrade R52 screen

#1 Post by Meson » Mon Mar 24, 2008 9:35 pm

Hello all!

First time poster here at these forums.

First off, I have a R52 1849 IBM Thinkpad computer. It currently has a SXGA+ display. I'm interested in upgrading it to a UXGA display. This computer does have the ATI X300 graphics processor in it, so it should power a UXGA display.

The question I have is that most of the UXGA displays I see posted on EBay and other such sites are being advertised for the T-series thinkpads. (Such as the T41, T42/p and T43/p computers.) I know that the R52 is almost equivilant to the T43, so if I purchased one of these screens with the necessary hardware (inverter card and cable), will these displays work with my computer. If not, what whould be a good source to purchase these displays.

Thanks in advance for any replies. :D

Welcome to the forum!

The LCDs used in T4x and R5x series are the same, so go ahead and create the first R52 with UXGA LCD...

Good luck and have fun.

I sold my R50p's UXGA-IPS screen (which is identical to the one used in the T42p) to a guy who installed it on his R52 without any issue.
