how can i tweak explorer?

hi all

i navigate my XP machine using explorer (the folder with the magnifyng glass over it) but i find it highly annoying that it always opens to 'my documents' - is there any way to get it to open to something else (say the desktop or even my computer)? thanks and apologies if this is an overtly stupid question

"Let's say that Explorer opens at C:\ and you want D:\ to be open on startup. Find the shortcut in the Windows\Start Menu and change the properties from:

C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\
to
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,D:\

I keep a Explorer shortcut in Quick Launch and in Properties I have: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n,/e,D:\ This opens Explorer at the D:\ drive.

That works, and in Vista may be the only way. In XP Pro or in Windows 2000, you can point your Explorer shortcut to explorer.scf and it will do just what you want. Look in Folder Options -> View to make sure you are viewing all you want (unhide hid things).

If I'm not mistaken, these switches have been around since Windows 95, or 95a, and are still really needed to make Explorer as useful as the old (and I do mean old) File Manager.

Going back to my rocking chair by the fire....
