I'm considering getting the model 14" T42 2373GUU and was curious if anyone here is using it and your thoughts.

How about a GVU (distinctly similiar, only diff is CD-RW [mine] vs DVD-R[yours]). I love mine. Display is great. Love the smaller form factor. Video card has been working just fine with RTCW and Call of Duty. Video card works great under linux (Suse 9.1) for my OpenGL development. Very speedy machine. Great battery life with the standard 9 cell, even better with the UltraBay Slim battery. 1G of RAM is more than adequate for the development work I do. Easy to travel with. Hardly notice I am carrying it. Fits on small work spaces for easy use and typing. Very unobstrusive while in a classroom setting. Other than the students oogling it :) Fast hard drive. Typically great IBM keyboard. Could do without the Trackpad, but that is what disabling it it is for.

Anything else you want covered, just ask and I will try to respond.

I also had a GVU model shortly replaced with the M1U model. The GVU is great since you lose the high priced DVD-R, which is useless when desktops burners are at 16X and standard notebook burners are at 8X.

If you don't need the 128MB FireGL T2, then get the 64MB Radeon 9600 which is more than adequate.

Lfegan,

You got CoD running on yours? I installed it on mine and when I tried to load it... it just hanged the system. Is there a special way to go about installing it?

Thanks,

HL

I read about a similar problem another user had with another game. He solved it by intalling the newest OMEGA-Drivers.
BTW: I've installed them as well and they run great :o) Until now I've just tested JointOperations but I can play it at 1280*1024... Maybe 1024*768 will be the "perfect-smooth" resolution of choice but it runs much better with the OMEGAs than with the IBM-preinstalled drivers.
