WD2500BEVE in Ultrabay

#1 Post by ATJ » Thu Mar 27, 2008 2:53 am

G'day,

Is there any reason a WD 250GB drive (WD2500BEVE) won't work in the ultrabay of a T43 2668-44M using a genuine 2nd HDD adapter (FRU P/N62P4553)?

I'm thinking of getting a couple the drives for backup purposes and just want to make sure they will work.

Don't see why not, as long as it will physically fit in the carrier. The operating system will install drivers as soon as you boot with the new drive, and that's about all you need to do. You may be asked to re-boot once, and that is all.

I use XP or Vista power management to shut off the drives after 3 min and that works with the ultra bay drive as well.

Thanks. I have a couple of 120GB drives (WD1200VE) that work fine but wasn't sure if going as large as 250GB might cause issues.

It should work in your T43 because that is the same drive i have in my T43p but the difference is that i am using a non genuine HDD adapter.
