Stupid question about Ultrabay CD drive

#1 Post by Phazer » Thu Mar 27, 2008 7:30 pm

I was veiwing the forums a little bit ago and saw the question about using a SATA HDD adapter in a T61. Made me think about the same but for an R40 or T23, (I did see some on eBay). Anyway, I pulled the CD drive and was looking it over and just now noticed the switch on the bottom rear of the drive that lets you switch from CS, SL, & MA. Does it matter which setting this is in? I can't believe I never saw this before. This paticular drive is a 27L4301. I did a search using that FRU only, and nothing came up.

Cable Select, Master, Slave.
Normally the Ultrabay drive should be set as Master.

Yeah, I knew what they stood for, just didn't know what the correct setting was since quite a few things are set to cable select.
Thanks
