X40 recovery discs on X41

#1 Post by califas » Fri Mar 28, 2008 5:32 pm

Would it be wise to use a set of XP SP2 X40 recovery discs on a X41? I did this and it seems to work but will I run into problems down the road?

Also, XP did not asks for a key...is this normal? I am using a hard drive from a X40 that had a previous install of XP and I plan to sell the X41 so I don't want to send it off with the XP key from the X40.

Doesn't seem wise to me. The X41 used a different chipset (Intel 915GM) than the X40 (Intel 855GM). I'm surprised you got it to work at all without horrible video performance. Don't you have lot's of yellow exclamation marks and unknown devices in Windows Device Manager?

System update took care of all those pesky exclamation marks
