Audio Enhancements for Vista not appearing on T61p
With vista, we should be able to obtain sound enhancements such as loudness correction and bass management. Unfortunately, after searching countless of hours, I can't seem to make it work on my T61p.
My sound Card is a SoundMAX Intergrated Digital HD Audio card.
I should be obtaining a window like this

but it's just not there. Anyone else have that problem?
Cheers
Nick

I looked too and only found the driver (link below) that enabled the enhancements tab but only 1 of the enhancements 'enabled' with no discernable effect. It was the room correction one.
Here is the link if you want to try it yourself:

Let us know if you find something more useful; especially some bass and treble adjustments. Although you can sometimes adjust equalization in some programs, but many do not support it. Would be nice to have more functionality in the soundmax drivers.

well my T60 has it so i dunno. I did a clean install of Vista SP1 and didn't install any "Lenovo" drivers. Just used the ones that came on the system or downloaded from Windows Update.
Current - Thinkpad T410si - Core i3 330m, 4GB, 250GB 5400RPM, WXGA+, FPR, BT, Camera, DVDRW, Gobi2000, Win7 Pro x32

well no, Vista downloaded and installed from Windows update some Lenovo drivers. Even though they are from a Microsoft source they are just like the Lenovo ones (they are Lenovo just approved my Microsoft) so stuff like the Power Management driver did get installed. It's called:
Thinkpad Power Management Driver
There are 2 of them when you do a clean install. The first one is from March 1st and the second comes only after you've installed the first. The first one is "Recommended" and a "System" update and while the other is Optional and a "Other Hardware" update. The UltraNav, Thinkpad LCD and ATI Radeon X1400 came in via Windows Update also as well. All with Lenovo tags on them.

I do have a checkbox for "Enable audio enhancements" under Sound/Playback/Speakers/Properties/Advanced. But no detailed/specific checkboxes that I can find.
Driver version 6.10.1.5510 (AnalogDevices) for SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio.
I have no idea if this means anything, but if I go to the properties of the sound card itself and click details, then choose to look at the Capabilities property, it shows a value of "00000000"! (I would rate it slightly higher
)
But thanks to this thread, I did notice that a cable had come loose and I was getting audio from only the left speaker! Wonder how long that had been...

well interestingly i didn't notice this but i was using "Standard HD Audio Device" drivers from Vista when it installed. The audio worked fine and that was great. Recently tho i got a update in Windows Update about my audio and now you can say it's the correct one:
SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Device
With that there i don't have the audio enhancements anymore and the Jack Information. before with the other drivers i could see my 3.5MM Jack info (as in plugged in or not) as a way to sort out why i'm not getting audio from my speakers (love Vista for that... lots of times my friends had no audio problems and just couldn't figure out why... Vista shows if you are playing audio or not, if there is another volume not turned up enough or jack information. Totally love it
)
Oh well tho, this "new" driver works too but i never used audio enhancements so i guess i wont miss them.
