adding bluetooth antenna in the X41t

#1 Post by ulrich.von.lich » Sat Mar 29, 2008 8:15 pm

I wonder if anyone has ever done it and can tell how hard it would be. Or is there anything I should pay special attention to?

I've taken my T43 apart a couple of times but the X41T has a more complex LCD assembly and the HMM doesn't seem to be detailed enough.

Any advice is very much appreciated! Thanks!

Regards,
Tony

I added one antenna wire and it goes from the back(where the cdc and wifi cards are) to the LCD center hinge(just like the two wifi antenna) but then make the copper sheet portion of the antenna lay on a flat surface right next to the hinge, underneath the keyboard and above the battery. It didn't make the keyboard look uneven and the reception is OK(not too bad for bluetooth).

so just adding the Bluetooth CDC/MDC card to the slot won't give me reception?

Nope. Unless you enjoy 1-inch range.

The BT antennae is located on the inside of the LCD cover. You have to remove the entire LCD panel to get at it. It's not a job for the squeamish but it can be done.

The hardest part is getting that top cover off the lid; it's held together by double-sided tape which initially was a little disconcerting but after trying to pry it open, double-sided tape does a GREAT job holding the lid together!
