X61 hung by built-in SD reader

#1 Post by mfbernstein » Sun Mar 30, 2008 4:02 pm

I've now had this happen several times. I insert an SD card (its happened with different cards, 1GB Lexar and 2GB SanDisk) into the slot and the system stops responding to any input.

Screen is still on, and the battery and disk LEDs remain active, but neither internal keyboard nor external keyboard, nor mouse nor trackpoint do anything.

I've checked the Event Viewer, and there's nothing in the logs that indicate a crash. Still, the only solution I've found is a hard reboot.

Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before? Ideas on how to avoid it? I don't use the built-in reader that often, but I'd rather not have to get one more dongle for my travel bag. Thanks.

im having similar issues with readyboost when applying this to an sd card. the system doesnt freeze, but "skips" along. ive since disabled readyboost.

if youre experiencing system halts or crashing, make sure your bois is up to date and that youre drivers are up to date
