600E power off problem

#1 Post by degsie » Tue Dec 07, 2004 2:20 pm

I hace recently become the owner of my 2nd 600E. By first died of 'drowning by beer' .
My current one is running Win2K Pro. The problem is that when I go to shutdown the 600e seems to go through the motions (spin down etc) but then it is leaving the batt led on and the lcd is ever so slightly on (ie dimly lit). I have to push the reset button to complete the shutdown.
The same happens when I attempt a restart from the OS.
The model is 2645-4AU ans the bios is showing INET36WW 11/20/99.

This did not happen on my first 600e :!: Can anybody give me some clues...

The last time I checked, INET36WW 11/20/99 WAS the LASTEST version for the 600E...NO?

I downloaded and installed the latest bios, sure enough it looks like I had the latest there already!

Anybody got some other ideas why my 600e lappy wont power off fully :?:

I've only used W98 & XP, but you might look to your event log in W2k to see if it's listiing some type of error. If not, I would suspect Power Mgmt utility problem. I'm not sure there is a functional one from IBM for W2K or XP that is compatible for the 600 series.
