Need advice... T41P vs T42P

I'm either going to purchase a T41P 1.7 with 128MB video, 60GB HDD, 802.11A/B/G or a T42P 1.8 with the same specs. I will most likely upgrade which ever I buy to 2 GB of system memory as well. Has anyone actually compared the performance of the T41P 1.7 vs the T42P 1.8? The laptop will be my primary machine so I would like to play the occasional Grand Theft Auto and Doom III. What do you guys think? Is there a big difference between the two laptops?

Hmm, Doom III you say? A R9700 notebook would really be a lot better for that game. Not that it won't be a brick...I am just pointing out that you won't exactly be cranking out 100FPS at 1600x1200 on a T41p/T42p.

On a side note, Doom III is crap as is nothing more than a showcase for ID's new game engine. Half Life 2 or Far Cry are far better and play great on a ThinkPad

yes, choose on price. 1.7 and 1.8 doesn't really make any difference.

There have been any direct comparisons with the Radeon 9600 64MB vs. the 128MB FireGL T2. I wonder if there's any difference.
