Dumb Vista Question

#1 Post by jdhurst » Tue Apr 01, 2008 7:52 am

I got my new T61p with Vista Business 64 and started it yesterday.

The card games (Free Cell, Solitaire, etc) have fuzzy and out-of-focus cards. Very difficult to see. I turned off all the effects, but I cannot get crisp card decks (a la XP Pro).

Is soft, fuzzy, out-of-focus all that Vista offers? What have I missed?

I guess it is supposed to make you feel "Warm and fuzzy". Now you see why everyone is bashing Vista. Lots of little annoyances and a few big ones. Most of it can be tweaked out but that should have been done before RTM.

I haven't yet found a tweak to get rid of the fuzziness. If you know of one, please let me know. Thanks. ... JDH

you mind taking a picture of that... i have no idea what you mean by that. I doubt they are supposed to be out of focus and all that tho.

I love Free Cell and play it very often. I tried Vista's version and hated it. Not only the cards don't look right, but Microsoft also changed the ways you move the cards so that some of the short cuts available in XP no longer work. Free Cell alone accounts for 20% of the reasons I don't want to migrate to Vista.

Pianowizard captured my feelings very well. Out-of-focus was a term I used for the broad fuzzy edges of a card (several pictures wide) that pulse in and out while you move the mouse over them. The graphics in the card are similarly soft (that is not rendered with sharp edges). ... JDH

The secret is out! The admins, mods, and senior members are using their beefy new mobile workstations to play card games! :D

Maximize the game on a big screen.... it appears to be the scaling algorithm they're using.

If I make it massive, the cards look crisp.
