Wifi Upgrade for T41

#1 Post by Borek » Tue Apr 01, 2008 9:35 am

I have a T41 2373-W41 Thinkpad and would like to upgrade
the wifi adapter. Thinking of putting in an Intel 2915 abg.
Any suggestions? Operating system is XP Prof. and the Bios
has been upgraded to the latest.

What would you like suggested? If you don't have a WiFi card right now, make sure your computer has the antenna. If you have a "b" card then the b/g or a/b/g card will be a nice upgrade. Most people on this forum seem to prefer the IBM/atheros cards over the intel.

Just make sure it is an IBM card or you'll need hack the BIOS to get rid of the 1802 error on bootup.

I have an intel 2915 model card and would like to know if
it would work in this laptop without problems.
Thanks for responding so quickly

Every T4x has antennas installed...and Intel card will work, although Atheros would be my preference...this, of course, if the card is mini-PCI and not mini-PCI-e...

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have a specific Atheros card in
mind for a T41 2373-W41? That is part or model number.
Joe

Some of the early T40's did not have the antenna built in but I just re-read the original post and see that he has a T41.

Any of the early ones for the T40/T41/T42 will work just fine. Be a little careful with some of the later Atheros ones for the T43 as I had some compatibility issues with my T40 (FnF5 wouldn't work, power management wouldn't work). But the actual wireless functionality worked just fine.
