Thinkpad X31 - cheapest place to buy ram / type to get

#1 Post by mistarose » Wed Apr 02, 2008 12:12 am

Hello, new to the X31 - picked it up on Ebay.

Wanted to upgrade it to 2gbs of ram and wanted to verify with your experienced users which and where...

I assume Newegg.com is the place to get it, please inform me if I am wrong - Ebay is fine with me as well.

I was looking on this page:

Link to newegg.com

Could I get faster Ram than DDR 266 (PC2100)?

Is 200 pin SODIMM the type to get?

Thanks in advance!

You can also get PC2700, it's also the cheapest apparently. PC3200 will also work but is more expensive for zero benefit (it'll be stuck at 2700).

Yes, 200-pin SODIMM. Just make sure you avoid DDR2.

You should get it form newegg as ebay isn't much cheaper (and has increased risk).

You can also post a WTB ad in the Marketplace here on the forum...

www.newegg.com usually has good prices on most computer hardware, including ram. If you can't get something from the marketplace head there.

Thank you Bri! I just bought a stick for my new-to-me T42P. I also picked up the "Raving Rabbids" game for my wife so I could use the $20 off $80 coupon I got in the mail. And shipping is free. What a deal!
