X61s Antennas Question

#1 Post by iamdmc » Wed Apr 02, 2008 5:05 pm

I have an X61s with the two standard antennas and have had some problems of late with a few of the networks I regularly connect to (I have since I had this laptop). I'm wondering, would the third antenna even work on my card (Atheros AG) or would it only work on the Intel AGN card? Furthermore, would I have to get the Lenovo techs to install it?

Would the Intel AGN card greatly increase my performance? Would the third antenna increase its performance?
Lenovo ThinkPad X220

yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

Past ThinkPads: X300, T400, X61s, T41, X31, A21m, T23 (x2)

No you cannot, there isn't any place to connect N antenna on AG card.

You'll have to install both antenna and adapter yourself, lenovo techs won't be installing it for you.

Consult HMM to find installation procedure:

Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X60, X60s, X61, X61s.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
