Windows 2000 or xp recovery disk

#1 Post by tehillah » Wed Apr 02, 2008 7:41 pm

I have a thinkpad t30 2366 41u. I have had several problems with drivers not working on my laptop most having to do with the video card (am trying to get s-video out to work). I have put windows xp on it, but there is a windows 2000 professional key on the back. I would have ordered a recovery cd from lenova, but they do not supply disks for 2000 anymore. I can order one for xp. I know that this version of windows is slightly IBM oriented and should have the drivers on it and working right. I either need someone to upload a iso for the windows 2000 disk. Or i need to know if a generic windows xp professional key will work if I order the xp recovery disk from lenova. I know that the ibm key on the laptop will not activate a regular version of 2000 pro, but will it work the other way around. Really if anyone has any other solutions that would be great. Don't care if I end up with xp or 2000 either one, but before I tweak it any, I want it to run like it would have if the operating system was new, loaded by IBM.

There is a member selling recovery disks for many series in the marketplace of this forum (including thinkpad T30):

For Sale: Genuine IBM ThinkPad Recovery CD's - Most Models.

You're also welcome to post a WTB ad in the marketplace if the particular seller won't have the recovery disks for the license you own, many members on this forum have thinkpad T30, I'm sure you'll get a reply from someone (in the marketplace).
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I have loaded a retail copy of Windows 2000 Pro on various Thinkpads with an IBM W2K COA and activated with no problem.
