Overheating with Z60M
Overheating with Z60M
My wife's Z60M constantly overheats in the left top corner of the keyboard close to the screen. Anyone know the cause of this?
Thanks
Thanks
That's where the fan/heatsink/heatpipe for the CPU is located. It could be that the vents are blocked, the fan may not be working properly, or the heatsink's contact with the chips it's meant to cool is not as good as it should be.

I probably have the same problem with my z61p. It overheats and then, boom, my screen turns black and so does an extra screen (if one is used) do.
My, not so professional theory has been that its the graphic card or driver but maybe the cpu then? I have used it quite heavy with cs and movie conversion so the cpu might be a bit tired?
Any one else with theese symptoms? If so, whats the recepy for it?

I had an issue with overheating with my z61m. I opened it up and saw that the vent had accumulated a lot of dust therefore blocking my heat sink. I cleaned it out and that seemed to fix the problem.
This is not the kind of fix I would recommend to anyone. Be aware that if you're not careful you could really mess things up.

Thanks for feedback. I am finally sending it in for repair as it just slows down so much when this is going on. I have reformatted it a couple of times for my wife and then it seems to work better for a short time.
I'm thinking that when I get it back I'll reformat with Windows XP/Pro and not with the Lenovo reformat and see if that speeds it up.
Thanks again
