T61 with NVS 140M - Horiz Lines Bend/Slant Upwards ?
I have a New (3 month old) - T61 with 15.4 Widescreen - WXGA (1280 x 800) LCD Monitor that uses the Quadro NVS 140M (128M) graphics card.
Now, I just noticed (using notebook pc more heavily now, so this may have ocured since day one):
..... In both native Windows Applications and Internet Explorer Browser Windows, horizontal graphical lines appear to bend or slant up slightly, starting from approx. the middle of the line all the way to the left hand side of a horizontal graphical line.
Questions:
... Is this being caused by a Driver Issue or a hardware problem with my specifc NVS 140M video card that is built into my notebook pc's motherboard ???
... Do I need to have my motherboard replaced to get another built-in video 140M card to resolve this issue --- or --- is this a known Driver Issue where an updated driver would resolve my bending of horizontal lines ???
Anybody, else notice this problem besides me ???

Can you boot your machine with a linux boot CD and report if the problem exists in linux? That way we can first ascertain whether this is a software or a hardware problem ...

No, I don't have access to a linux cd.
...Can someone with a T61 - WXGA - (with NVS 140M) running Win XP SP2, try the below and let me know if it happens for them:
Take a look at the Google screen's horiz line drawn across the screen above the Google Logo,
... And let me know, does it go UP on a slant towards the Left side of the Internet Explorer Browser Window for you, (starting from the middle of the line and looking from that point all the way to the left end of the line) ???
Thanks!

icantux,
I don't think its an optical illusion. Let me know if you detect anthing in my snapshots below:
*** (1) In the picture of "Opening a new Tab":
..... Look at the border under the browser tabs or the horizontal blue lines. Do they slant up to the left when you view these screen snapshots ???
Anybody, else notice this problem besides me ???

2) I have added a "Google" screen picture.
... Take a look at the border line of the browser screen just above the word "Web" to the word "Images".
Does it seem to curve or bend up slightly to you ???
... Also, how about the blue line under the words, does it slant upward starting from about the middle of the screen to the left end of the screen when you view it ???

JosephB, your images are not available. Anyway, it will be easier if you can post a picture of your screen (rather than a screenshot) ...

gator,
I corrected the typo's in my image links. The images should be available now.
P.S. Excuse, my newbieness. I am not sure what the difference is between a snapshot and picture is. .... What I did was hit prtscr key, then pasted it into the paint pgm - saved it as a bmp and uploaded to the imageshack server. Did you mean some other procedure to create a picture verses a snapshot ?

I do not see any slant in those screenshots. To verify I brought up a new window immediately next to the horizontal lines in the screenshot and they meshed pixel-for-pixel. Doubt it's a software problem.
Can you connect an external monitor to the machine, to see if it is a problem with the LCD?

Can you take a look at this below picture (which for me shows the problem the most):
--- In the left side "Folder Navagation pane",
--- Aren't the items under "Windows Vista" and "Windows XP", going on a downward slant to the right, when you view this picture ???
