Forum members with X60s with Ultralight screen

#1 Post by jketzetera » Thu Apr 03, 2008 8:19 am

I have been offered to buy an X60s with Ultralight screen for a very reasonable price. When I do the part look-up using the model number and serial number, Lenovo's web page indeed says that the system contains the Ultralight screen (FRU 13N7092). However, when I compare it to the Ultralight screen of my X61s there are several notable differences.

1. The Ultralight screen of the X61s is much "whiter" while the Ultralight screen of the X60s has a yellowish hue

2. The X60s has only seven adjustable brightness steps, while the X61s has fifteen.

3. At maximum brightness the X61s is somewhat brighter than the X60s.

Due to the above I am getting suspicious whether the screen of the X60s is really an Ultralight.

Can the kind forum members that have the X60s with Ultralight confirm that the X60s Ultralight only has seven brightness steps and that the whites are note "snow" white on the screen?

Go to Parts Lookup page and do a search on that Service part number afterwards. TMD is the manufacturer of Ultralight screen.

The "brightness bar" method you intend on determining Ultralight display is merely a software constraint.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

the X60 and X60s always have 7 steps only. When the Ultralight screens first came out, I bought one to compare to my X60 and its a huge difference. So pretty sure you got an Ultralight. My guess is the color settings are different on your X60s and X61s. I got my X60s color calibrated and its bright as ever.

Great. Thanks for the info. I bit the bullet and got myself the X60s with the Ultralight. How did you calibrate you Ultralight screen? Would you mind sharing the calibration profile?
