Power Supply 110 V / 230 V?

#1 Post by ypnos » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:01 am

Hi,

I ordered a T61p now and have a question about the power supply. Although I ordered the T61p in the U.S., I also want to use it in Germany/Europe.

A friend of mine has a power supply for his T60 which both supports 110 to 230 V and 50 to 60 Hz AC.
It seems you just have to switch the cable to the power outlet and be done.

Do you know if this is also applicable to the power supplys of modern models (have a look at them, the input voltage, etc. should be written on it)? What do the power connectors of these power supplys look like? Like the following?

Thanks for your help,

Same power supply as the T60 and it will cover 110/220V. All you need is a plug adapter for that country.

Actually, there's a slight difference between US and EU power supplies (which does not prevent use or anything).

While the EU one uses grounded power cord, the US one does not. At least this is the case with my two 90 W T61 power supplies. EU replacement for the nongrounded cord is easier to find, as they are found in camera chargers, radios, ...

Thank you for the information. Could you point me to the exact connectors I need for this? IE, is it like this:

or like this:

or even that one:

Hi.

The US version needs a cable like this in order to be used in Europe (excluding UK):

The EU version was shipped with this kind of cable (grounded):

Thank you both! Now I know what I need to buy.

Btw, connectors without ground have an advantage. It helps avoiding 50 Hz hum in combination with other equipment, for example external monitors or active speakers.
