T5250 in T60 ...

#1 Post by Miller88 » Fri Apr 04, 2008 8:32 am

I want to run a T5250 (1.5 core 2) on my T60, all I would need to do is upgrade the BIOS right?

I plan on upgrading to a T7500 in my Dell and taking the T5250 from that and putting in my T60.

T7500 is NOT compatible with T60 series.

Here's the list with compatible CPU's for T60 series:

P.S. Sorry I misunderstood your post. Are you sure you've a T5250 installed in your T60?

Right how I have a T2350 in it. Wanted to upgrade to a core 2 if possible.

My Dell has the T5250 in it and that is going to T7500.

The T60 doesn't use Socket P?

More than likely because it's a 800Mhz CPU while the T60 is 667mhz. The ones listesd on the link above are 667mhz so those are what will work.
Current - Thinkpad T410si - Core i3 330m, 4GB, 250GB 5400RPM, WXGA+, FPR, BT, Camera, DVDRW, Gobi2000, Win7 Pro x32

I think the t5250 should work ... it is a 667mhz cpu. I'll try it later ... what's the worst that can happen?

I cant pop the CPU ... right?

AFAIK Merom T60s are Socket M. Santa Rosa T61s are Socket P.

Socket M and Socket P won't work then? I know my Dell is a Santa Rosa socket P.

Oh well it was worth a try ... guess I'll be buying two CPUs off of ebay!

Socket P has 478 pins, but is not pin-compatible with Socket M.

Although it may seem, Socket M is not pin-compatible with the newer mobile Socket P

T61>>Socket P (as well your Dell)
