Vista, "NO WAY"

#2 Post by Truthfinder » Sun Apr 06, 2008 11:47 pm

I have tried Vista and after several tries at giving it a go, I feel it's another Windows ME. MY 2 CENTS.

I have and will continue to use XP and hopefully Windows 7 which is set for release in 2010 will prove to be a soild O.S.

I continue to use Win 2K on a few of my older systems and still love it. They can stop the sale of XP, but can't force feed Vista those who want no part of it. This will backfire on MS.

I feel that Microsoft is at the end of the day going to loose customers over to Mac PCs.

Best to One & All :)

After that date, June 30th 2008, newly manufactured ThinkPads will no longer be available preloaded with XP. Of course new ThinkPads made before will still be available until they are all gone.

When will the last ThinkPad preloaded with XP be sold? It may take a while but I would say until the end of this year you may still have a good chance to find one.

Vista Business and Vista Ultimate preloads will still retain their "downgrade rights".

If your ThinkPad is still covered by your Lenovo warranty and your ThinkPad came with XP then XP recovery CD's will still be available from Lenovo.

Xp vs: Vista

#4 Post by Truthfinder » Mon Apr 07, 2008 8:05 pm

I'm sure glad I got my T60 with XP and if anyone is in the market for a T6X, they should certainly consider getting it with XP while the getting is good.

Lenovo sent me XP downgrade disks with my T61. Bah ... hardly use XP anyways (Linux is my main OS) although I find XP much more comfortable than Vista. Sure Vista has its virtues (better in terms of connectivity/networking) but it can become a pain when it starts asking for permission to do anything.

I suppose people should consider making a purchase somewhat sooner than later if they wish to have XP preloaded on their machine...
