Hello everyone. I received my T61p about a week ago and I just happened to notice that there is a VERY subtle bulge/bump on the bezel between the power button and the thinkvantage button. It appears that it is due to the LCD cable running right underneath it. I researched this topic online and it appears to be a very common characteristic of these machines. What I would like to know is if this is a defect or is this 'bump' within spec? Do all T61/T61p/other T's have this same bump? Additionally, if this is a defect, do you think it is worth the trouble of getting it fixed in an otherwise flawless (so far) machine? Not to mention the fact that it is hardly noticeable and I might get my laptop back with more problems than I sent it away with. I thank you all very much for your input.

Bezel bulge: defect or not?
Re: Bezel bulge: defect or not?
The slight "bow" is by design. An arch is stronger than a straight support. (as in bridges)wmouhot wrote:Hello everyone. I received my T61p about a week ago and I just happened to notice that there is a VERY subtle bulge/bump on the bezel between the power button and the thinkvantage button.

I believe it is to protect the entire screen structure, providing some "give" when other objects are placed on it...like books or suitcases...wmouhot wrote:Thank you for your response. I have to ask, what is the purpose of the arch support in this particular place on the laptop? Does it just serve to protect the LCD cable?
As I recall there is an extensive article on this on Lenovoblogs.com under the "design matters" section, I think. It's been a while since I read it, so my memory of where it is may be flawed.

Yours is not the only machine to have "the bulge". See here, here, and here (especially second picture in fourth post). Mine has it too . . . It's quite ugly, but I try not to look there.
@ mgo: I don't think OP is referring to the back of the lcd cover (i.e., top of the computer when the lid is closed) but the area between the power and 'blue' + volume buttons.
