SATA AHCI Mode in WIN XP
SATA AHCI Mode in WIN XP
Hello,
Quick question (x61s):
I have installed xp pro with the intel storage drivers (downloaded from lenovo).
I had no problems installing windows, recognize the HDD while on AHCI mode.
Now, when windows start up after installation, i get a blue screen.
I have changed in the Bios to "SATA Compatibility" and windows works great.
I have installed the drivers again in windows, shut it down, than start it up again, changed the bios to AHCI and again, blue screen.
Is there a way to work in "AHCI" mode in win xp?
I did all what written in the driver's release note....
Please Help.......

X61s L7700 1.8 GHz.

Windows XP Professional
Issue sloved.
I have re-installed windows in "comptability mode" without the driver, and then installed the driver and changed to AHCI in the bios, it works.
Comment:
First installation was XP PRO SP3 RC2
Second installation was XP PRO SP2
- Maybe something to do with SP3 ???

This has always been the case with XP. It does not come with those drivers on board. SP3 is not the cause. I have run into this all along with XP on all my ThinkPads. Congrats on solving your problem.Oren wrote:Issue sloved.

By the way, should you ever decide to move to Vista a clean installation is much easier and there is no AHCI problem with Vista.
