ThinkPad T61 14' (8897 Series..) Heat/Noise Free?

I have been very royal to Thinkpad since 1992 as many thinkpad user did. I was very happy with T41 and I was disappointed with T61 14' wide screen. Recently, I got X61 Tablet (7200 rpm hdd) but I am considering returning it due to heat issue on right palmrest. I understand Lenovo will charge more than $200 for restocking. But the heat issue really bothers me.

However, I am not ready to say good bye to thinkpad yet. So, I may want to order thinkpad t61 14' (not widescreen). Before I do that, I want to make sure it has no significant issue with heat. Please advice.

I have a 14" standard t61, machine type 8896.

I have experienced no issues with regards to heat on the palrest.

heat is there , not extreme , but its not COLD....
right palm rest is hotter then left, due to the hard drive.
i dont think you can do anything about this.... maybe the 5400 drives are colder....
yeah it doesnt get hot as my T43 use to , but its still got some heat.

the big difference is the fan, its very hard to hear it when it's on. and it's not on all the time....
