bring out of standy/ hibernate using wireless keyboard

#1 Post by paulphilip » Mon Apr 07, 2008 10:40 am

I can't bring my machine out of standy mode using my Logitech wireless keyboard, although I know this is possible, because it's a key feature of the keyboard. I went to System, Hardware, Device Manager, USB Controllers, and under 'USB Root Hub', I discovered that the option "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is grayed out. Does anyone know how to remedy this ? I went to Logitech and they are scratching their heads. Perhaps something to do with my ACPI ? Thanks.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how you expect that a USB wireless keyboard driver to be running/responding while a laptop is in suspend mode.

I would presume that only a physical keyboard (like an internally wired PS/2 keyboard) would be able to resume a laptop. If the Thinkpad's USB is powered off during suspend (to save battery power, maybe?), it ain't gonna work.

But if they sell the device based on that expectation, bully for Logitech.

Thanks. I reached the same conclusion. I currently hit the power button on the thinkpad, but Logitech swears there is a way to resume from standby using the wireless keyboard. I have logged a number of requests with their tech support, hopefully that will provide an answer.
