Is it possible to upgrade the T41 CPU to the Pentium M 740?

I have a T41 with 1.6GHz Pentium M, 1MB L2 cache. I'm wondering - can I upgrade this to a Pentium M 740 (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 cache) and is it worth the $30 upgrade fee?

yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

The correct processor is the 735 (400mhz fsb) the 740 will actually run slower due to the 533fsb.
Do a search on T41 processor upgrade - there is a wealth of info.

To clarify: will the 740 run slower than the 735 or just slower than it is designed to run (ie. it will clock the FSB down to 400MHz - and are there any other underclocks)?

I don't think it will run at all...might be mistaken, but I've never heard of 533Mhz CPU running on a 400Mhz board...

It will boot at 600mhz, and then you'd need software to force it to a max of 1.3ghz...
