Vista x64 Service Pack 1 not available?

#1 Post by Enigmatist » Tue Apr 08, 2008 10:42 am

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to install vista service pack 1 on vista business 64-bit. However, it has never showed up on Windows Update. I read on a lot of sites saying this is due to the older drivers that are supplied by Lenovo for the Intel x3100. With my thinkpad, I'm unable to install the newest driver available from Intel (it keeps giving me an error).

Therefore, has anyone here successfully installed vista service pack 1 on an business x64 thinkpad with the integrated graphics card?

Thanks

Yes, its working fine for me on two *61 ThinkPads.

Download the SP1 pack for Vista x64 and install it manually.

doesn't downloading the manual update from microsoft require more space compared to the windows update one?

While you are in the process of upgrading to SP1, yes, the manual version requires more space. Once SP1 is installed, the two installation paths take the same space. The extra space is just temporary files that will be removed.

If you really are concerned about space issues just run disk cleanup and perhaps CCleaner once you've installed SP1.
