T43p shuts down
Type 2687-D5U
Im not sure what is going on with my T43p. It seems to shut down when it is under cpu stress. Just watching some clips on youtube and one minute into it, the laptop just shuts off. Fan goes crazy for a little when about to shut off but dont feel any serious heat coming from it. I went ahead and used PC doctor. Half way into it, the laptop shuts down also. Every once and a while it freezes on me and does not repsond. Anything I can try before I call Lenovo?

I called Lenovo and they said it could be cause by software related issues. The guy told me to reinstall with the recover disc and see if the problem continues. He is going to send me a box anyways just in case. The warranty is about to expire in June so I think im going to extend it. Any idea on the cost of extension? Looking for addition year or two with the right price. Also getting a keyboard. Do you think they will change out the palmrest due to it being shiny?

Talk to another rep...the first one is BS-ing you or is clueless...send the machine back ASAP.
I believe that you can get 2 years for $199 or something like that, but Google is your friend here...
Depending on the tech who actually does the work on your machine, he/she may or may not change the palmrest. I wouldn't expect them to, but I've seen it happen.
Good luck.

See the thread Warranty extension (the post by Tim M of Tue Jan 29, 2008 11:38 am). What you should/could look for is the 41C9180 which is available from around $150 (being a two-year extended warranty, covering Parts+Labor Depot Repair w/Pick-Up = EZServ).Stevesoura wrote:<snip> The warranty is about to expire in June so I think im going to extend it. Don't know if you paid too much for the on-site 2 year extension but a 2 year depot extension should be about $150-$200. Find the IBM code from previous posts on this forum and then google it for the lowest price.

Ok its been a full day since I reloaded the recover disc. Everything seems to be working fine. I tried to put as much stress as possible and have not gotten any shut downs yet. I will probally give it a couple of days and see if I want to send this thing in or not. One thing I forgot to mention in the first post was I did uninstall some program that came with it. Im not sure if that had a effect but I think it did.
I am still debating weather to sell this thing or keep it but it depends if everything is working correctly. Im not sure if anyone would be interested.
