HELP: loud repeating beep?
with volume up i hear this continuous BEEP BEEP BEEP pause BEEP BEEP BEEP. it repeats itself and is not going away! Its never done this before though. weird thing is my computer worked fine earlier today, i closed the lid, not shut it down. when i got home computer was dead. not asleep, not dead battery, no nothing. i pulled the battery and cd drive than put them back in and i let it sit for a moment and it fired back up? strangeness. i dont leave the volume up on the computer all the time so this might have started before today i guess? i just started the computer up and turned the volume up to check a song and wow is that beeping loud!!! i can turn the volume up and down and the beeping noise goes up and down respectively. any help would be awesome. thank you

Copied for a google search, hope it helps -
Perhaps your CD drive is not properly seated in the
ultrabay and the TP is trying to tell you that. I'd recommend shutting
down the system and then removing & reinserting the CD drive solidly
into the bay. If that does nothing for the beeps then boot up with the
drive removed. Still beep? Boot to an alternate OS (such as with a
Knoppix boot CD). If it is some type of hardware problem then the
beeping may persist. If it is OS related then it won't. If it was OS
related then go back into the offending OS and look for hardware
problems/conflicts (such as in Device Manager in Windows).
