Good morning!gnychis wrote:dang, even with those BIOS I still have the issue. I don't know what's wrong... I'm thinking of trying a clean install
Code: Select all
uname -a
Code: Select all
zip -r extensions.zip /System/Library/Extensions /Extra
I used your Extra folder.gnychis wrote:No problem! I can wait
After you used the myHack installer, did you use my Extra folder, or did you use the Extra folder that myHack created?
Code: Select all
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1024x768x32</string>
Are you never sleeping?gnychis wrote:okay i replaced all of my kexts with yours, and my /Extra folder ... I have good news, and bad news!
The good news is that the computer sleeps with no problem and the wireless card does NOT wake it up. I am digging in to the difference between our kexts for this.
The bad news is that my graphics STILL become distorted after waking upI have no clue... I will try to think of something else that maybe we can check.
if you could do me another favor... if you could install pci utils and then open a terminal and run 'lspci' and give me the output, that would be great. I want to see if our video cards are the same revision.
Code: Select all

Hi!gnychis wrote:I found the problem!!! The System Profiler gave me a hint with "ROM Revision: OpenGL Engine activated via EFI String" ... I thought that this was weird so I started to dig around in my system to find this string. I found that it was included in an EFI string that I used once to try and fix my brightness without using Shades. Once I removed this string from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist it worked!! YesssssA fully working laptop!
Could you still paste me your output of System Profiler though? I am curious if you have Quartz enabled or not!
Thanks so much Grose! You really helped me narrow down the problem.
A sneaking suspicion is coming over me.gnychis wrote:haha thanks for the paste! I can pretty much interpret the german
I believe that we both do not have OpenGL support enabled with the graphics drivers. This is my 2nd goal now
My first goal is getting instructions on how to keep the computer asleep without the wireless card waking up. I am pretty sure that the kext you have loaded, EHCISleepEnabler.kext. If I just copy this kext in to my system with my whole series of kexts, the machine does not boot from a kernel panic. Therefore, some other changes are needed to get EHCISleepEnabler working in snow leopard. I wonder if myHack installed this for you? Or did you install this yourself?
Wow, super!gnychis wrote:Thanks Grose! That fixed it, but I also needed to use your IOUSBFamily.kext from the zip of /System/Library/Extensions you gave me! So now sleep is 100% working for me![]()
Now we just have to enable OpenGL support on the graphics card and get that pesky microphone working!
Hi!voot545 wrote:The problem here is, I did press Fn+F4 to enter sleeping mode, but the wireless immideately turn on the computer again after the screen was off, any way to fix this?
Otherwise, is that possible to display the battery on the right high corner?
Oh, also, how can I control the brightness, I did press the Fn + End, it is not working, I know there is an "aml" file, but How can I use that?
THank you for your help!!!
Go back to the second page of this thread, written from @gnychis, and start to read from there.voot545 wrote:I just updated to 10.5.8, but not 10.6.1 as I dont know how to make a 10.6.1 installation CD. How can I do that? Thank you for your help
Updated:
Oh I get it, so, do you mean if I wan to make sleeping and brightness control functionable, I must upgrade to 10.6.1 first? If yes, I will go to do it tonight.
Also, do you know how to make the bluetooth always be on? The X300 can detect the bluetooth device, but, the bluetooth is going to turn off after you restart the computer. Then I need to remove all my deivce, and lead the OS ask me whether I want to turn on the bluetooth or not!!!!
