Hi!

I guess you are following the LifeHacker tutorail. I used it also, and got massive problems with Chameleon RC2 and RC3.
Try to cratea a disk with "myHack installation package". You can take it here http://osx86.sojugarden.com/downloads/
Only after that, my computer installed and startet properly the 10.6.

I hope I do not bring you in trouble with wrong advice. My installation is some week ago. I spent also two nights without positive result. But if I remember well, I installed it as standard, without additional marks.
All for X300 needed kexts you'll find at @gnychis post on second page of this thread.

OH, Cause I did try to install the "myHack_Installer_1.0_RC3_r32 2.mpkg" as default, but seems it cannot boot up properly. So I did place the kext file from Page2 -> Extra into the the disc, now it is running!!

Good, bring it to the end and then use the auto update function to 10.6.1.
Do not forget, after the update the brightness will be distorted. The X3100 combo driver has to be installed again.

Good luck

I'm sorry, have no idea how to help you more. Somewhere you make a mistake.

Hi George!
I hope you follow up to read this thread. I wonder if your Bluetooth is running. If yes, does it run out of the box or you boost it with some kext? I have no Bluetooth. At the moment no need, but who knows.

I'm also having problems with your 10.6 install method. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Couple of points:

Hardware wise I should be MOSTLY spec.
I have the Atheros ABGN card which I got to work without fancy bios hacks I think. (It was long ago). Just did the "tape over the pin" trick.
My HD is NOT the stock SSD hard drive. I replaced it with a Samsung Platter drive. I think this might be the issue.

So when I boot from the USB installer it kernel panics almost immediately unless I set the BIOS AHCI mode to "compatability", not SATA.

When I set the AHCI mode to compatibility I can boot and start the install, then there is a kernel panic ~20% into the install.

Any ideas? It sounds like maybe I need a different AHCI kext.

Brian
