Hi,
I would like to upgrade an R31 to the newest BIOS available, but there is a caveat: the upgrader does not want to flash the BIOS due to a not-totally-charged battery (the battery is as good as dead). Is there any way to circumvent this check - I do not want to spend a fortune on a new battery which would cost probably more than the worth of the old laptop. The ACPI implementation in the currently running BIOS is way too buggy and makes life quite miserable when running Ubuntu 7.10 .
Regards,
Peter
BIOS upgrade on an old R31
basically boot to a bootable floppy. like the doctor dos image from bootdisk.com. then manually load the bios program. ive done it but i forget the command, actually theres a howto around here sumwhere. its the same across all model thinkpads. just understand that theres potential for harm so do it at yur own risk.
