Nope! - There are used T60's on this side of the pond (and these are scarce too!) that have 14.1" SXGA+ panels with only T5600 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo's and 60GB HDD's selling for approx £650 ($1300) with warranty's ending late 2009/early 2010 - So you got a good dealtockki wrote:Some of you might think I am crazy for paying $1100...

Thanks Crunch and Peak2Peak. After reading your posts I feel twice as elated... Actually I have been eyeing your specs, Crunch. Ever since you came on the board a couple of months ago I've been N. V. ing your setup and that Affs thingamajig. (thus posted your comp specs on the above replies...)
I got the setup on Eebay.. actually flexview wasn't listed just that it was a t60 and 15"... and the listing was a bit obscure but there was a model # which I looked up and found that it wasn't listed in Lenovo's Price/Model listing. But with a few searches found that it was a flexview with sxga+ ^^.
I haven't seen a flexview in person before but your previous post just brings my a bigger smile to my face ^^. Will be reporting when I get it... shipping monday.

Finally recieved the T60 a few days ago... First of all.
FLEXVIEW IS WONDERFUL.
Never knew that a laptop screen can be viewed in practically all angles. No need to fidget with the angle of the screen anymore.
Wish I could show pics but no camera. The notebook is near perfection except one thing.
Fan noise~! It's constantly on??!! So I loaded up the TPfan program and found the current GPU 64 and CPU 45 with normal usage. I really didn't understand the fan noise problem till now. On my 14" with 1400X (same graphics card) the current GPU is 51 and CPU is 49. (I did replaced the fan once before due to strange whirring sounds via Lenovo)
I'll be tweaking the fan settings though... it seems there are a lot of people more worse off than me.
Just want to say thx again to all who helped my buy a flexview. Funny how before I just thought of my laptop as a thinkpad. Now I refer to it as a "flexview thinkpad". I now understand what the rave was all about...
BTW if anyone with a similar GPU CPU temperatures as mine and use TPfanctrl... please recommend some fan settings. Read through the other posts but I feel that each fan settings should be tailored to their current laptop temp readings.

As far as your temps are concerned, download the app "PC Wizard 2008". They recently came out with v1.84! It's a great little tool for monitoring your temperatures, amongst many other functions, especially if you minimize it! In that mode, it displays the temps., and CPU loads in a little transparent "window" in the top right corner. This is its default settings. You can always move it around to where you want it on the screen. That way, you can see what's going on in as far as your temps., and if you need to tweak the fan with TPFancontrol. It's very non-intrusive. You can always get rid of it if you don't like it. I, for one, use it all the time.
Which model did you end up getting, if I may ask...?
Enjoy your new Thinkpad!
15-inch Core 2 Duo ThinkPad T60p | Ivy-Bridge (Late-2012) Mac mini w/ quad Core i7-3615QM 2.3GHz, 16GB DDR3-1600MHz RAM, 240GB+180GB Intel 520 Series SATA III SSD's, 5x3TB Drobo 5D
I got the 2007-7JU 15" SXGA+ X1400 - warranty ends 12/2009 ^^ & upgraded the RAM to 3GB on XP.
(I liked it so much that I am on the lookout for another one with similar specs C2D 2.16 or higher with 15" Flex SXGA+ with X1400 or with the 5200 for my "to be" father in law.)
About the noise issue, TP fan couldn't solve it so I resorted to call the Depot. Explained the fan situation with temp comparisons with my other T60 and they concurred that it shouldn't be on like that.. they will send in a box to change the fan or something.

Final update on my new thinkpad. I just recieved it from the depot. GPU temperature levels are same as my other 14" thinkpad. Before fixing GPU after normal usage was around the 60s. Now it is around the 50s. Actually it is the same temperature as my other laptop at this moment. With all the heat issues with fan noise... IMO I'm beginning to think that maybe fan noise issues may be due to improper placement of the fan on the system. Thanks all.
