R50p 9 cell + ultrabay slim batteries

#1 Post by kajencik » Fri Apr 11, 2008 11:32 am

I just received an used, but in good conrition, ultrabay slim battery, so here are my results for anyone interested in longest battery time possible for R50p or T42p (as they use the same MB):

As you can see, I can get almost 6 hours of use when at maximum power saving mode (wireless disabled, CPU undervolted and idle, LCD at minimum brigthness), it is obvious that on normal use I get something between 3 and 5 hours depending on actual usage, but what I tested and can confirm to work, is main battery swapping on the R50p - I can just pull the main battery out when the laptop is running on the ultrabay one and put another inside.

And what is more interesting is the price on which I get these batteries, it makes $51 shipped for the 9 cell battery (not genuine - seller excellbay on ebay, also discused here) and $30 for the used ultrabay slim battery. I plan to buy antoher 9 cell battery in the future, providing me with both of the power of the FIRE GL T2 GPU and whole day battery operation (of course not these two at same time :) ) when needed.

Although almost 4 years old, my R50p still rocks :!:
X60t - 3GB RAM, 60GB HDD, currently no battery, SXGA+
X61t - 4GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 1 hour battery, SXGA+ with bubbles
T530 - i7-3630QM, 16GB RAM, 240+480GB SSDs, 3G, Full HD LCD, 9 cell battery
