system update can't install intel 3945ABG latest driver

I got one X61 running on Vista with Intel 3945ABG wireless LAN card.
I was aware of the issue that Vista SP1 got blocked because of the outdated driver. I've kept an eye on that and been waiting for the solution from Lenovo.
Finally these days i am so happy to see the Intel driver show up in the System update list that i could finally try out SP1 on ThinkPad.
But problem arose when I was trying installing them.

Every time after the "successful installation" message prompted out from system update, I rebooted it as required. but when i check the driver verion, still the old one. Run System Update again, the driver shows on the list again. if i try installing that again, the same story repeat.

My current version is 11.1.1.11 30/4/2007
the latest version on the list is 11.5.0.36 12/12/2007

why not just download it and install it manually. I never use system update, i just download and extract then go to the device manager and update my drivers there.
