T42 LCD problem?
I just got a T42 model 2373-4WU with I think a LCD problem. When you first turn the laptop on, you can barely see Thinkpad in diagonal. It is very dim and you really have to look for it. After that, it is a black screen. When connected to a monitor, it is working fine. My question is: How can I test or verify that it is the LCD. What else should I check if not the LCD. Thank you in advance for your help.
T61 (6464-4YU T9300(2.5GHz), 4GB RAM, 1600GB 7200rpm HD Fujitsu MHZ2160BJ G2, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
It is probably the LCD (bulb or inverter), but it is possibly the motherboard. The only wat to check is to hook your LCD to another base or hook your base to another LCD. One thing to test, there is a little switch in the keyboard bezel that tells the machine the lid is closed. (above the keyboard to the left) Make sure it isn't stuck.
