T41 Overclock

#1 Post by buckalho » Sat Apr 12, 2008 10:37 am

Hi there,
I've just upgraded my T41 2373-1FA CPU to Dothan 1.8Ghz M745 for performance wise. Does anyone know how to overclock this processor? How far one can "safely" overclock without having any overheat problem?

By the way, does anybody attempted/ managed to unlock IBM's BIOS because I heard that Dothan should've been easily overclock through bios setting.

It's either using SetFSB or a hardware mod (the second probably isn't feasible because of the hi multiplier). No BIOS settings that I know of. Heat does not become an issue until you go past 2ghz.

Now the question is why. I'm guessing if you succeed at overclocking you'll only get to 2ghz. What sort of performance are you looking for exactly, and is only reaching 2ghz worth the trouble?
