SSD on T41

#1 Post by buckalho » Sat Apr 12, 2008 10:43 am

Have anyone tried using SSD on T41 or similar machine?
I'm planning to use SSD instead of 7200 rpm hdd on my laptop but I recently heard that even XPS and X300 have driver problems with SSD.
Please reply with your good/bad experience.

Performance comparison with 7200rpm drive would be nice though :)

Yes, do a search on "ssd" and you'll see many examples.

Here are a few where it did not work out:

There are a several others who did have it work, though. The performance was very good.

BTW, keep in mind that only the new and really expensive SSDs are good, for example there are some horribly slow but cheap SSDs on newegg right now (around $150).

For info on putting a Compact Flash adaptor and a high speed (266x or 300x) CF in place of a HDD look at this thread for while, it is LOOONG...

With that said, I did manage to get the Kingston 266x 8GB card to work in my X40. So if I have time I will try to plug it into my T41 and see if it fits and will boot.
