x61 "Slim Line" Battery

#1 Post by bri » Sat Apr 12, 2008 3:52 pm

Any idea what the first two entries are under Compatible system batteries?

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 68026.html

It says X61, X61s series but then says (not supported on the X61, X61s). The Sanyo FRU # shows in this parts list under Prismatic and the Enhanced Capacity Battery FRU #'s show under Cylindrical:

From this it looks like the Slim Line goes with X61s and the Enhanced Capacity goes with X61. Duno what the difference is though, they're both 4-cell.
now: X61, T42p
before: 600E, T23, X20, T40, X40, X31, T60

The Slim Line battery has lower capacity but larger "footprint" than the Enhanced 4-cell.

The X61 has a larger fan than the X61s; consequently, the cavity for the battery on the X61 is smaller than the cavity for the X61s.

All X61 batteries fit the X61s (can add spacer to fill in the extra space), but the Slim Line battery fits only the X61s.

Look at this photo:

The Enhanced is thicker by the 2 half-circles at the bottom of the battery, but is shorter by the length of the spacer.

the enhanced also has 30% more capacity vs. slim.

I use the enhanced with my x61s - ideal foot print and 3hrs of battery time to boot. :D

Ah ok. I've been for the Slim instead of the Enhanced. I suppose what I want is an Enhanced. Is it much heavier? The costcentral.com product pages show Enhanced at .7 lbs and Slim at .4 lbs, didn't think it would be such a difference.

just a strange question:

does the enhanced 4-cell come with the specer piece to fit in the X60s? Or do i have to get it seperately?

thanks

It comes with the spacer when ordered as a stand-alone additional accessory/part.
