OSX86 on an X61s - Partly there - but not quite

#1 Post by TJMacGyver » Tue Apr 15, 2008 8:20 am

This is mainly a little story about my endeavours into the OSX86 world :D

Hi I just installed Kalyway_10.5.2 OSX86 on my x61s. But I think I'm quite unlucky

It's running on an USB HDD and with vanilla kernel. I installed the x3100 support on the dvd, but it didn't work, quick apple logo and then slow fading of many colors. So I had to remove them on boot.

I then got into OSX, and wow it's much more snappy than vista.

But then I found out I have NO network. I have the Intel 82566M LAN and the Intel 3945ABG wireless.
Is it correct that it is not possible to get either of these working at this time?

Then came further disappointment when I found out that I have no sound support either. (correct?)

Good thing I tried it out on an old USB hdd first :)

I think I will try to get the graphics working, to se how the system feels. I have never realy used OSX before.

Hints/Tips/resolutions are welcome.

You're not alone, every X61 user I've heard of has had problems with getting their LAN and audio working in OS X. The most common solution are those little thumb-size USB adapters for audio and ethernet. They're a little unsightly, but they only cost a few bucks.
