Like New 770X-7AU wants it’s Original Preload back

#1 Post by JD » Thu Dec 09, 2004 12:49 am

Hi
I just got my 6th 770 and this baby is so nice  (near new) I’d like to put it back to her issued state. I was hoping someone out there might have the Recovery CD and Customization CD they could share or sell.

770X details: 9549-7AU, 8mb SGAM Graphics Card, 13.7 SXGA Display, DVD and DEVA Card, Windows 98 Preload.

I’ve never had the original preload on a 770 would it be a waste of effort?

Another reasons I’d like to do this is I’ve never been able to capture video with the DEVA cards ( maybe I don’t have some of the proper apps). I know most say they like Win 2K on the 770, but some of my software (apps with 3D needs) has not worked properly with 2K.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
JD

Current Pads: A21M, 770, 770Z, and now 770X
Previous Pads: 760s (all models), 660E, other 770s

Hey JD,How's it goin....Prob with the state it came in is it Windows 95....and it won't let you upgrade to 98 with just a normal 98 install CD...you have to have the windows upgrade cd(which I think I have around here somewhere).....

I have a copy of the original Assymetrix Video Capture Software,if you want to try and play around with that......haven't played around with it too much....but i do know i did it once...and it was with XP....

Email me tomorrow and i'll dig it up....

Later Man....

Hi Greg
Thanks for the response. Going Great, especially after opening a package to find a 770 with no keyboard wear and only a minor scratch on the cover.

Any way I just rechecked the preloads for the 770s in the “Personal Systems Reference IBM ThinkPad 1992 to 2001”. Says 770 E/EDs had Win95 and Z/Xs Win98. For what that’s worth.

I don’t really want 95, of course. And don’t know if whatever apps in are worth having, but I have had a760X that worked great with the preload reinstalled, seemed factory fresh and didn’t take so much time loading drivers.

The Assymetrix Video Capture Software must be what I’ve missing cause all of my video-ware will list the capture card but will not communicate with it.

Any more info on win98 preload for 770 X and/or it’s worth over typical win98 install?
