765XD--No sound

#1 Post by lannybudd » Mon Apr 21, 2008 11:38 am

I have a 765XD with 2 gig HG and 80meg RAM. It originally ran (as I remember) Windows 95 which I upgraded to Windows 98SE, I don't remember whether I did a clean install or not rather than upgrading. It all runs fine, like new including the PCMCIA cards, except that I now have no sound. There are occasionally sounds when I make an error but no sound as when I'm trying to watch an online video. I read in another post which I can no longer find that this occurs when the Windows 95 wasn't upgraded to 98 but there was a clean install, the sound driver then disappearing. How can I regain the sound? It doesn't seem logical that I must now reinstall Windows 95 and then upgrade to 98 (I have the 98 upgrade and new install 98 disks). Thanks to all.
