T23 2647-4MU vs. T23 2647-8MU

#1 Post by w1nk5 » Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:50 pm

What is the difference between the 4MU and the 8MU?

I have a T23 2647-8MU that only turns on when it feels like it. I want to order a new motherboard but all the available mobos on ebay are for T23 2647-4MU.

Can anyone help me out here? Will the 4MU work? Any suggestions?

I almost positive its the mobo.. but I'm also open to suggestions to fix.

Much Appreciated.

A detailed explanation of what it does (or doesn't do) when it acts up will greatly help in trying to diagnose the problem. Given that it's a T23, then the most likely scenario is that your system suffers from a part which has detached itself from the motherboard. Symptoms usually include:

- fan spinning fast and slow
- no video displayed; on LCD or external VGA port or some random lines/bars on the screen
- no beep codes

Other problems on a T23 could be:

- loose/broken connection on memory module slot(s); usually indicated by the 1-3-3-1 beep code when system refuses to boot
- general non-response to power button or non-boot (powers up but no video activity or beeps and steady fan); possibly a defective MiniPCI modem or wireless card

If you DO need a new mobo, you can use both the 26P8218 (recommended) or the ubiquitous 12P3770.
The 26P seems to be used for the top-of-the-line T23s with 1.2 CPU, internal wifi and SXGA+
